Junior Scientist Bioanalytics
Work for an Organization that brings innovative therapies to patients worldwide
VectorY combines the potential of antibodies and gene therapy to develop long-lasting therapeutic solutions for large disease areas of high unmet medical need. Founded in August 2020, and based in the Amsterdam Science Park, VectorY is a fully integrated gene therapy company focused on the development of innovative therapeutics for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as ALS and Huntington’s disease. With R&D facilities in Amsterdam, VectorY develops proprietary & partnered programs based on its novel AAV-based vectorized antibody gene therapy platform.
Short description of the position
The Research and Development Department designs new technologies and innovations in vectorized antibodies to develop novel treatments for neurodegenerative diseases, with a particular focus on CNS proteinopathies. We are testing new therapeutic candidates in in vitro and in vivo pre-clinical settings and models. The Department works towards the clinical translation of these novel therapies. The Pre-clinical Translation Bioanalytics is a functional Team within the Research Department, with the main responsibility to support the biodistribution, shedding and efficacy readouts for Non-clinical and Clinical programs. This is achieved by the design, development, qualification, validation and implementation of bioanalytical methods that are used to monitor product pharmacokinetics (PK) and efficacy (PD). Moreover, Bioanalytics Team is also responsible for performing routine sample analysis and data reporting to support our Pre-clinical Studies.
Main responsibilities of the role
Establishing scientifically sound and quality compliant bioanalytical PK/PD methods to support the Pre-clinical programs (hands-on)
Contributing to planning and organization of routine sample analysis activities
Molecular and immunological sample analysis to generate data that supports Pre-clinical studies
Document and report data in timely fashion, in line with GLP practices, wherever and whenever appropriate
Work with other scientists within Research, Clinical and Vector Development Departments
Author or review of relevant quality documentation (SOP, Qualification Protocols and Reports)
Troubleshooting and improving current methods if required
Participate in training and daily supervision of Junior members of he Team, as well as helping the, when needed, with technical knowledge of molecular and immunological analytical techniques in day-to-day activities.
Skills and Qualifications
PhD in (Bio)Analytical, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related field, ideally
In-depth knowledge of, and hands-on experience with, design and execution of molecular ((RT)- qPCR, dPCR) and antibody-based assays (e.g. ELISA’s, MSD and SMC platforms)
Affinity with routine biospecimen sample analysis is preferred • Hands-on experience handling samples under Microbiological Safety level II restrictions
Proven ability to work independently in hands-on laboratory setting, self-motivated to learn and develop new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously and keep accurate records
Working experience in a regulated setting (GxP) and/or awareness of GxP pharmaceutical regulations is highly recommended
Able to design, conduct and execute exploratory research programs in the context of biomarker development is a plus
Able to work independently and in a team in a flexible manner
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
A documented and strong ability to collaborate with colleagues productively in a fast-paced environment
Experience with CNS-related pathologies (e.g. ALS, HD, PD, etc.) is a plus.
