Scientist Vector Technologies
Work for an Organization that brings innovative therapies to patients worldwide.
VectorY combines the therapeutic potential of antibodies and gene therapy to develop long-lasting therapeutic solutions for large disease areas of high unmet medical need.
Founded in August 2020, and based in the Amsterdam Science Park, VectorY is a fully integrated gene therapy company focused on the development of innovative therapeutics.
With R&D and manufacturing facilities in Amsterdam, VectorY develops proprietary & partnered programs based on its novel AAV-based vectorized antibody gene therapy platform. Product candidates are based on next generation vector technologies, which will enable a proprietary and highly scalable manufacturing process within VectorY’s own manufacturing facilities.
Short description of the Vector Development Department
The Vector Technology teams forms the foundation of the VectorY products as they are responsible for the generation and characterization of novel AAV vectors. The team innovates by designing novel capsids, promoters and any other molecular design that enables the production of the Next Generation vectors for the development of innovative gene therapies for areas of high unmet medical need. The group utilizes the molecular toolbox to design AAV vectors with novel characteristics such as specific cell targeting or specific transgene expression profiles. To that end, the team is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic computational biologist who can master large datasets for capsid design and promoter design.
Main responsibilities of the role
The Scientist owns, manages and coordinates activities in Vector Technologies team
Manages complex scientific projects in the field of computational biology, structural virology to enable design of novel AAV vectors
Can set up in silico models for capsid design, can mine databases for functional predictions, experience with bioinformatics
Management of Technician(s) and/or Scientist(s)/PhD Student(s) in the teams.
Skills and Qualifications:
Strong background in computational biology and preferable experience with viruses/vectors
Experience in molecular design of viral vectors and setting up processes and assays for characterization thereof
Preferably experience in industry setting.
Your Natural Strengths and Drivers
Impeccable scientific rigor and a passion for innovation in the field of Viral Vector development. You are driven by a high paced and dynamic environment to develop the Next Generation AAV Vectors.
Working at VectorY
We offer a personal and authentic experience within a young, ambitious biotech company on the path to bring innovative therapies to patients worldwide.
