Short description of the position
The Senior Director of Program Management will be the strategic leader and partner to VectorY’s management team and functional leaders, responsible for driving the seamless execution of programs across VectorY’s portfolio. Reporting to the Chief Business Officer, this individual will ensure that scientific, operational, and regulatory efforts are integrated and aligned with company goals. In addition to overseeing project execution, the Senior Director will also play a key role in cross-program prioritization and resource planning and help shape the trajectory of the pipeline. This highly visible and high-impact role requires a blend of strategic thinking, cross-functional leadership, and operational excellence to help shape the future of VectorY.
Main responsibilities of the role:
Accountability for the successful scientific, regulatory, and clinical execution of key programs, ensuring
they are aligned with corporate goals and strategy.
Guide overall portfolio execution and strategic alignment across programs and workstreams, while
overseeing project managers responsible for day-to-day timeline and task-level execution. Ensure that
project plans, interdependencies, and risk mitigation strategies across preclinical, CMC, regulatory, QA,
and clinical domains are integrated and support the broader program objectives.
Drive cross-functional decision-making on program objectives, development paths, inflection points, and
trade-offs in close partnership with program leadership, functional leadership, and VectorY’s
management team.
Serve as a key interface with VectorY’s management team, delivering strategic updates, scenario analyses, and risk-benefit assessments across programs.
Contribute to portfolio-level planning, including cross-program prioritization, timeline optimization, and
resource allocation.
Collaborate with finance and functional heads to support program-level budgeting, forecasting, and
resourcing.
Mentor and develop a growing program management function, including project managers.
Champion a culture of accountability, focus, and scientific rigor across program teams.
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or a related discipline is required.
Advanced degree (PhD, MBA, or MS) is strongly preferred and viewed as a strategic advantage.
PMP or similar certification is a plus.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, with a
minimum of 4 years in program management or strategic operations roles supporting drug development.
Proven track record of successfully leading complex, cross-functional development programs spanning
preclinical through early clinical stages.
Deep understanding of key development functions, including IND-enabling studies, CMC, regulatory
strategy, and clinical trial initiation.
Ability to navigate both strategic oversight and day-to-day execution, with demonstrated influence across functions and leadership levels.
Adept at synthesizing complex data into actionable insights to inform program direction and prioritization.
Expertise in developing and maturing Portfolio Management models and Program Management methods and practices..
